Reddit CEO warns users - 'we know your dark secrets'

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman warned users of the site that the company knows more about them than they might think. He went as far as to tell them that the site knows "all your dark secrets."

He was speaking at a conference when he was asked how Reddit will monetise its content. Huffman told the crowd, "We know all of your interests. Not only just your interests you are willing to declare publicly on Facebook – we know your dark secrets, we know everything."

When the interviewer reacted to this and said, or joked, that he'd have to close his account, Huffman responded, "Try it. You'll be back."

Unsurprisingly, this video hit Reddit's frontpage with more than 6,000 upvotes and almost as many comments. Meanwhile, the video has been viewed more than 200,000 times, but the number of dislikes far outstrips the number of likes.

Many users are debating whether he was joking or not. Meanwhile, others are now showing support for ousted interim CEO Ellen Pao, believing that she was a scapegoat for a series of unpopular changes that weren't reversed when a new CEO took charge.
